About the Peedam

A Sacred Spiritual Journey

Sri Chakra Maha Meru Peedam is the seat of Mahameru and Sri Chakra worship established in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh — a region historically known as Vilasapuri, an ancient centre for Shakta worship.

Guided by HH Sri Sri Sacchidananda Tirtha Mahaswamigal, an Advaita Sannyasi in the lineage of the Shankaracharya tradition and a devotee of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham, the Ashram carries forward Vedic learning, temple worship, and Annadhanam for thousands of devotees each year.

His Holiness

Bilaspur Swamigal

HH Sri Sri Sacchidananda Tirtha Mahaswamigal is an Advaita Sannyasi in the lineage of the Shankaracharya tradition, having taken Sannyasa Diksha from HH Sri Sri Ishwarananda Tirtha Mahaswamin. Born in a traditional Tamil Iyer family in Salem, Tamil Nadu, he has devoted his life to establishing Sanatana Dharma in the heart of India.

"His mission is to establish Sanatana Dharma firmly in the centre of India, for the benefit of mankind at large."

Twenty years ago, Swamigal established the Peedam in a rural region of Bilaspur — a deliberate choice reflecting his deep commitment to the empowerment of marginalised communities. He is affectionately known to devotees as Bilaspur Swamigal.
